You’ve heard the phrase “it takes a village to raise a child” … well, it takes 2 new cast members to replace Amy Poehler who had a child: Abby Elliot and Michaela Watkins.
Let’s meet Abby Elliott. Now, you might remember her father Chris Elliott from SNL during ’94 and ’95, making her the first “legacy” player. If that wasn’t enough to convince you that comedy is in this gal’s genes, her grandfather was Bob Elliott, as in comedy duo “Bob and Ray”.
At 21 years of age, Abby is building a solid comedy resume. Prior to landing the gig on SNL, she was a member of the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre (the improv/sketch company co-founded by Poehler), and a member of the Los Angeles-based Groundlings comedy troupe (which boasts current and past SNL players including Will Ferrell, Maya Rudolph and Kristin Wiig). She’s also done voice work on King of the Hill.
Although Abby made her debut on the November 15th episode of SNL, she hasn’t really had a chance to show off her talents, particularly her celebrity impersonations, which include Kirsten Dunst and Angelina Jolie.
