President Obama Knows his SNL!

It seems SNL has some impressive viewers …

Singer John Legend was filming backstage at the January 18th inaugural concert, which captured some of the world’s top musicians giddily awaiting their chance to greet the President and First Lady. I don’t think anyone was prepared for the following exchange, as transcribed by EW’s Popwatch:


Michelle Obama: “Mr. President, you didn’t tell Beyonce about ‘Single Ladies’? Your rendition?”
Barack Obama: [chuckles] “Oh! I’m not like Justin. I didn’t put on the outfit. But I didn’t want my girls thinking that I couldn’t, you know…I got a lil’ something.”

Obama then follows it up with one of the hand twirl moves from the video!

I don’t know what’s cooler - that Obama knows his pop culture and musical references, or that he’s seen the oh-so-awesome SNL sketch that parodied Beyonce’s “Single Ladies” video.
